Sesame Street Characters

For this assignment, Meganne designed and built Mardi-Gras-themed costumes for all 10 Sesame Street characters that appear in the parade performed at all Beaches properties. These photos show the characters preparing for the parade.

Meganne’s costume for Big Bird was a world-wide first — no previous designer for Sesame Street Themed Entertainment had overcome the technical challenges of clothing Big Bird. For the Celebrate! parade, Meganne devised an ingenious method of dressing the Big Bird character so that he could appear in a vest and satin belt, as well as his familiar necktie!

Celebrate! Props

These close-up photos of various characters’ props were taken at Meganne’s New York City studio. Because the Celebrate! parade is performed at three separate Beaches resorts — Ocho Rios and Negril, Jamaica, as well as Turks and Caicos — Meganne constructed three identical sets of costumes and props for each of the ten characters. That’s 30 sets of costumes and props in all!
